Moroccan Tamegroute Ceramic Candlestick in the style of Giacometti
This vintage handcrafted green enameled candlestick is a mere sculpture from Southern Moroccan village of Tamegroute, where skilled potters have practiced local techniques that have been passed down through generations. The characteristic green glazes, ranging from earthy olives to vivid greens, are the result of variations in a traditional mixture of magnesium, copper oxide and barley flour. With its unique form, vibrant color and the heavily grained glaze, this candlestick strikes a perfect balance between art and design, the embodiment of a unique and long-lived craft. The shape is reminiscent of the candlesticks designed by Alberto and Diego Giacometti (Toutankhamon Candlestick).
